After 10 years in the air, Refundmore's last founder resigns

Gustav Frederik Thybo, who founded Refundmore with two friends in 2014, has decided to step down as CEO. He has no doubt that the company's success will continue under the new country manager's leadership.

June 12 marks the 10th anniversary of Fly Aid, the organisation that fights for air passenger rights. In addition to a decade of successfully fighting for justice, the anniversary marks a change in management at Refundmore. Gustav Thybo has decided to step down as director and let new forces take over.

"I look back on the last ten years as an amazing time. We started with just DKK 5,000 in our pockets, and now Refundmore is the biggest player in the Nordic region - and a fantastic place to work. Now it's time to pass on the baton and start something new, which I look forward to telling you about soon," says Gustav Thybo.

He founded Refundmore in 2014 with his brother Johan Thybo and his friend Phillip Brechmann. Over the past ten years, the company has helped more than 400,000 Nordic air passengers receive compensation from airlines totalling over DKK 400 million.

Refundmore became number two on the stock exchange's Gazelle list in 2020, after which the three founders had to steer the company through a tough period during COVID-19, which became the biggest crisis in the history of the aviation industry. Now the company is back in a strong position, breaking all sales records in 2023. Now Gustav Thybo has decided, as the last of the three founders, to leave Refundmore.

He will hand over responsibility for running the office in Amager to Dennis Christensen, who will take over as Head of Office for Refundmore on 1 July 2024.

"Dennis has been Refundmore's CFO until now, so he already has a great understanding of the company's operations. He also has a good eye for employee well-being and talent development, so I know that he will help maintain and develop the unique culture that exists at Refundmore. I am confident that under Dennis' leadership Refundmore will grow and ensure justice for even more Danish and Nordic travellers," says Gustav Thybo.

Dennis Christensen is proud to have the opportunity to take over:

"Gustav and his team have made Refundmore the biggest player in the Nordic region in the fight against airlines' creative ways of reading legal texts, and I approach the task of driving it forward with great humility and passion," says Dennis Christensen and continues:

We are an army of strong legal forces - and while it shouldn't be necessary to fight long battles to get the compensation air travellers are entitled to, we will continue as long as that is the case."

In 2021, Refundmore was acquired by Flightright - one of Europe's leading players in air passenger rights. The extra breathing space provided by the acquisition will help Refundmore with marketing, hiring the best employees, and further automating work processes. The ambition is to become the largest player in the Nordics with an even larger margin to other players in the market.
