Who went on strike?At the call of the German trade union Verdi, thousands of employees across 13 German airports went on strike.
These airports were affected:Frankfurt am Main (FRA) - Munich (MUC) - Berlin-Brandenburg (BER) - Düsseldorf (DUS) - Cologne/Bonn (CGN) - Dortmund (DTM) - Weeze (NRN) - Hamburg (HAM) - Hannover (HAJ) - Bremen (BRE) - Stuttgart (STR) - Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (FKB) - Leipzig/Halle (LEJ) Why did they go on strike?In connection with collective bargaining, the Verdi trade union demanded better pay and working conditions for airport employees. The demands were not met by the employers, which is why they called for a strike. After a few days of strike action, an agreement was reached between Verdi and airport employers. How does it affect travellers?Up to 500,000 passengers have had their flights cancelled or delayed due to the strike. Many have had to rebook or cancel their scheduled flights, which can be an expensive and inconvenient process.
