Compensation claim
A compensation claim is a request for money that you make to an airline. It may, for example, relate to compensation for a delayed flight, a cancelled flight or reimbursement for costs incurred as a result of the flight disruption. Describe what happened and what compensation you are claiming.
Meaning: A claim for financial compensation
Relevant for: Delayed and cancelled flights, and denied boarding
Regulatory framework: Among other things, UK261 and EU Regulation (EC) No 261/2004, depending on the compensation you are claiming
What does this mean for your flight?
If you believe you are entitled to compensation, you need to submit your claim to the airline or to us here. Provide your booking reference, flight number, travel dates and a description of what happened. If you are claiming compensation for out-of-pocket expenses, you should also attach receipts. You can take the matter further if the airline rejects your claim or fails to respond.
Example: Your flight is cancelled and you claim compensation. You send a claim to the airline, including your booking reference, flight number, travel date and details of when and how you were notified of the cancellation.
